Our Global Strategy
Credit Investments (CI) oversees our global credit portfolio, offering a range of debt-financing solutions across the capital structure, such as term loans, high-yield bonds, mezzanine lending, structured products and other credit solutions tailored for borrowers across various sectors. In select cases, CI also commits to debt funds to access manager expertise or existing strategic benefits. To enhance scale and market access, CI also invests in platforms and capital deployment vehicles and may gain this exposure through an equity investment.
Our CI Teams
CI invests in both public and private credit and credit-like products globally. This includes investments across corporate, consumer and real assets credit along the credit rating spectrum, except for local currency government bonds.
Capital Solutions
The Capital Solutions group provides flexible capital at scale for sub-investment grade corporate issuers and asset-based opportunities across North America and Latin America. The group’s strategies include investments in leveraged loans, high-yield bonds, mezzanine debt, preferred equity, solution-oriented/stressed financing, royalty financing, collateralized loan obligation lending and asset-backed financing across sectors.

APAC Credit
The APAC Credit group offers sub-investment grade corporate, structured and real asset credit solutions across the capital structure in both primary and secondary markets in Asia Pacific. The group invests both at the asset and corporate level using a variety of instruments including leveraged loans, high-yield bonds, convertible bonds, senior and mezzanine loans, as well as structured credit products. APAC Credit also selectively engages in strategic partnerships in core local markets to provide scale and local access.

European Credit
The European Credit group delivers sub-investment grade corporate and structured credit solutions across the capital structure in Europe. The group invests in liquid and illiquid credit instruments in both primary and secondary markets, with a focus on complex, event-driven opportunities such as acquisitions, refinancings, restructurings, and recapitalizations. Typical investments include leveraged loans, high-yield bonds, private credit, junior capital, and structured credit (including CLOs, asset-backed loans, forward flows, and credit-linked notes).

The Public Credit group invests globally in liquid, higher-rated credit products. Typical products include corporate bonds, exchange traded funds (ETF), credit default swaps (CDS), options, synthetic tranches, asset backed securities (ABS), residential mortgage backed securities (RMBS), commercial mortgage backed securities (CMBS) and collateralized loan obligations (CLOs).

Real Assets Credit
The Real Assets Credit group is a global credit investor in both public and private markets across all parts of the capital structure in the following asset classes: real estate (first mortgages, b-notes, mezzanine debt, preferred equity and single-asset CMBS), infrastructure (project finance, loan finance and bond finance) and sustainable energies (senior debt, subordinated debt, preferred equity and mineral royalties).

Bill Mackenzie
Managing Director, Head of Active Equities North America
Bill heads the team responsible for delivering alpha through active security selection of public, and soon to be public, equity investments in North America.
Prior to joining CPP Investments in 2010, Bill was a Director and Analyst in the Equity Research group at TD Securities. Previously, he worked at Ernst and Young in the Assurance Services and Corporate Finance groups.
Bill holds a BA in Economics from McGill University and an MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant and a CFA Charterholder.

We regularly issue holdings and relationships reports which disclose private equity relationships, and Canadian and foreign public equity and real estate holdings.
